Our roots

At the turn of the 20th century, Gambles Robinson Ltd. was established with a mission to offer the best quality fruit and vegetables to the retail and food-services industries. Soon thereafter, The Ontario Produce Company began with similar goals in mind.

Their suppliers at the time were local growers who relied on them to sell and distribute their produce quickly and fairly.

Throughout the decades that followed, the competing companies pushed each other to excellence. While both organizations flourished, Gambles’ customer-service model was unsurpassed. Meanwhile, Ontario Produce developed operating systems that directed its growth along a path of improved productivity.

The 2002 merger between the two companies was a perfect fit.

This marriage of complementary styles allowed the new Gambles Ontario Produce to offer growers and customers one of the largest and most efficient distribution networks in Canada.
