Job Description
The Global Sourcing Manager will report directly to the VP, Sales, Marketing, and Category Management.
This position will work with suppliers to secure cost-effective, quality product for our valued customers. This individual will work primarily out of the Ontario Food Terminal location but will require the ability to travel to both locations regularly.
Although the primary schedule for this individual is 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, our ideal candidate can work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the business which may include occasional evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Source new products and suppliers to satisfy customer expectations
- Secure and analyze quotations; negotiate prices and terms with suppliers; and recommend suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness
- Research import data and consider market fluctuations and pricing
- Confer with existing vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
- Minimize shrinkage/spoilage of fresh fruits and vegetables; address quality and quantity issues with suppliers; consider lead time for orders
- Communicate with vendors to determine order status
- Utilize problem solving skills to resolve customer or supplier issues
- Collaborate and communicate with all departments at all seniority levels
- Communicate favorable purchasing opportunities to customers
- Provide direction to warehouse workers on the arrangement of produce displays
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of produce knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of CFIA regulations, import restrictions, and food safety an asset
- Previous warehouse experience preferred
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule as the produce industry is a 24/7, dynamic business
- Ability to use computer and phone to complete work
