Job Description
The Operations Manager will report directly to the GM of Operations.
This position is responsible for the Dwight execution of shipping, receiving and replenishment, QC and Inventory Control. You will be required to lead, mentor and support shipping, receiving, clerical and inventory functions while encouraging and maintaining a safe and productive work environment. You will be required to extract, analyze and maintain dashboard data. This individual will work primarily out of the Dwight Distribution Centre but will require the ability to travel to our location at 165 The Queensway occasionally.
Although the primary schedule for this individual is 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, our ideal candidate can work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the business which may include occasional evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Improve Productivity and Order Accuracy
- Ensure Same Day and Overnight Shipping orders are completed in a timely manner
- Accountable for ensuring that all shipments occur as scheduled
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the facility under the guidance of the GM
- Labor planning and scheduling based on forecast and productivity targets
- Provide supervision applicable staff members to ensure all objectives of area are met
- Monitors employee and supervisor performance
- Effectively participates and reports the performance of the OFT Operations teams.
- Conduct regular supervisor and employee meetings and 1-1’s to ensure all team members meet the objectives and are well informed of the priorities, processes and activities of the warehouse
- Implement and maintain all relevant SOP’s and directives
- Ensure compliance of food safety policies including HACCP
- Lead and/or support employee training and development
- Work with Inventory management to ensure that inventory is accurate and reported timely
- Support and promote health and Safety in the workplace by communicating all new programs to the team
- Manage and support conflict resolution
- Support Dwt operations and initiatives with respect to labour and product inventory
- Strong relationship with Market sales, buyers and other departments
- Participate and evaluate projects as assigned
- Continually strive to improve processes and systems
- Gaining hands-on experience in operations is a great way to learn skills and procedures
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a business, supply chain or management program or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years experience as a manager or supervisor in foodservice/wholesale/retail distribution
- Previous management experience in a unionized warehouse environment is beneficial
- Thorough attention to detail
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work in a Team environment
- Flexibility and adaptability to a constantly changing environment
- Shift work and weekend work will be required
- Ability to multitask
- Knowledge of HACCP
