Job Description

The Operations Supervisor will report directly to the General Manager of Operations. This position is responsible for direct supervision of the warehouse employees to ensure the efficient, clean, and safe handling of products that meet quality and service standards. You will be responsible and accountable for providing positive leadership and oversight to the Shipping & Receiving teams ensuring a high level of service standard and effectiveness of all aspects of the distribution center operations.

This individual will work primarily out of the 302 Dwight Avenue DC facility but will require the ability to travel to our Ontario Food Terminal location on occasion. Although the primary schedule for this individual is 40 hours per week, our ideal candidate can work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the business which may include occasional evenings and weekends.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are accurate, meet quality standards and are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Understand relevant warehouse SOP’s and systems utilizing Warehouse, ERP, Payroll and Labour Management software.
  • Analyze and communicate to Operations Management recommendations that improve efficiency and reduce process waste.
  • Assist in training and motivating employees to increase operational effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement shipping and receiving work schedules and assignments to ensure an effective and efficient use of labour while maintain excellent internal customer service.
  • Ensure that all reports for warehouse activity are prepared timely and effectively.
  • Monitor and manage warehouse employees’ timesheets, schedules, and Time Off Requests in Dayforce.
  • Advise Operations Management and People Development of any attendance/tardiness/performance issues with warehouse employees.
  • Ensure compliance of Health and Food safety policies and practices.
  • Provides general communication on relevant safety issues and concerns.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A college/University diploma/degree in related logistics field or 3+ years experience in warehouse and distribution operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership in communicating, organizing, and motivating goals and objectives to front line staff.
  • Demonstrated record of providing excellence in customer service.
  • Experience mapping, analyzing, and implementing operational process improvements through data and number trends.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel (level 2-intermediate), Word and PowerPoint.
  • Familiar with all material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of all appropriate health and safety practices.
