Job Description

The Transportation Coordinator will report directly to the Transportation Manager.

This position will support the Transportation Manager to ensure efficient dispatching and scheduling of delivery trucks and drivers for overnight and same day service. This individual will work primarily out of the Dwight Warehouse location but will be required to travel to both locations as needed.

Although the primary schedule for this individual is 40 hours per week, our ideal candidate can work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the business which may include occasional evenings and weekends. The intended schedule for this role is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 10am-6pm.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer the transportation services for same day customers and same day transfers
  • Coordinate overnight routing and load planning transportation services
  • Work closely with Shipping, Receiving and Transportation staff to schedule and manage the efficient flow of product for cross dock and back haul freight movement
  • Monitor transportation reports for GPS coordinates, telematics and driver behavior for all Gambles drivers and 3rd party providers
  • Adhere to and improve all transportation SOPs and make recommendations of procedural guidelines for delivering product to customers or suppliers
  • Assist in the administration of all Gambles and 3rd Party Driver KPI’s and policies
  • Determine the most effective and economical routing in a fast-paced environment
  • Manage drivers (agency and employee)
  • Direct and oversee job assignments and plan long-range labor needs based on budgetary and throughput expectation
  • High level of client satisfaction that is maintained and monitored with service providers
  • Responsible and accountable for promoting Health and Safety and providing any programs, which will encourage and develop a good balance between safety, productivity, and the wellbeing of individuals
  • Completion of any special projects or tasks as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of transportation experience
  • Previous Warehouse, produce and customer service experience an asset
  • Basic computer skills & knowledge of Access, Excel, Word, and warehousing systems

Personal Attributes:

  • Must display strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Must display strong team building, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Work related experience in traffic and transportation is an asset
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
